Problem Statement

The project involved collaboration between Japanese and Indian stakeholders across technical, regulatory, and operational phases of a wastewater treatment plant initiative.

Language and contextual gaps created challenges in:

  1. Accurately interpreting technical discussions

  2. Aligning expectations between international teams coordinating with local government bodies and partner organizations

  3. This led to potential risks in miscommunication during critical stages such as bidding, design finalization, and on-site execution.

Approach/Process

The project was handled in structured phases aligned with the lifecycle of the initiative:

Stage 1: Bidding & Design Coordination - October 2024

  •  Supported communication during bidding discussions

  •  Interpreted technical meetings related to plant design and planning

  •  Coordinated with partner firms and local authorities

  •  Built domain understanding of wastewater treatment systems

Stage 2: Design Finalization & Stakeholder Coordination - February 2025

  • Facilitated discussions between contractors and stakeholders

  •  Supported site and design confirmation processes

  •  Assisted NGO and community-level coordination

  •  Interpreted compliance and infrastructure planning discussions

Stage 3: Construction Schedule Confirmation and Site Reallocation - June 2025

  • Managed bureaucratic delays by resolving location conflicts with other government projects.

  • Mitigated construction setbacks caused by heavy, unseasonal rains.

  • Coordinated with civil contractors and finalized the procurement of all electro-mechanical equipment.

  • Confirmed and locked in the master construction schedule.

Stage 4: Inspection & Future Collaboration - December 2025 - January 2026

  • Provided interpretation during on-site inspections

  • Supported quality assurance and review meetings

  • Facilitated operational planning discussions
